ShinPark is a Korean piano duo, composed of female pianist Mijung SHIN and male pianist Sangwook PARK, that after discovering their shared passion in classical music, made its debut in 2013 at the world renowned MuTh concert hall of the Vienna Boys’s Choir in Vienna, Austria.
Since the formation of the duo, Mijung Shin and Sangwook Park have won various prizes in many international competitions while proving themselves to be notable next generation musicians, who have been invited to a number of prestigious international festivals.
The both of them have been taught by the world-renowned German piano duo, the Stenzl brothers, Hans-Peter Stenzl and Volker Stenzl, who were appointed as the world’s first professors for piano duos. In the course of just a few years, the duo developed into a professional team, which they proved by winning the first prize in the category piano duo at the International Piano Competition "Ischia" in Italy in 2015. Later that year, in September, they were chosen as the second prize winner for the prestigious ARD music competition in Germany. In December 2016 they won the first prize at the international 4 hands piano competition in Monte-Carlo, Monaco.
They played as soloists with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Romanian National Symphony Orchestra, the Polish Gdansk Baltic Philharmonic, the Croatian Zagreb Soloists, the Slovak Philharmonic, the Monaco Carlo Philharmonic and many other ensemble and orchestras.
Since 2015/16, ShinPark are under contract at World Culture Networks (WCN), an artist and concert agency based in Vienna and Seoul. In 2017, the Korean piano duo started with their debut at the Konzerthaus Berlin. Concerts at the Bucharest National Theatre, Zagreb Ryssin Hall and Munich Hercules Hall followed. Numerous concert halls have requested ShinPark to perform at concerts.
Initially they studied piano independently at the University of Music and Performing Arts and (MDW) and at the Vienna Conservatory (MUK) under Prof. Roland Batik, Prof. Thomas Kreuzberger and Prof. Denise Benda (piano duo) and graduated in Piano duo under Hans-Peter and Volker Stenzl at the Rostock University of Music and Theatre and with Paul Badura-Skoda in Vienna. The duo received lessons by world class pianists like Daniel Barenboim, Menahem Pressler and Jacques Rouvier and many others, which elevated ShinPark to the world class in their field.
In October 2018, ShinPark will be invited to play at the Piano duo festival “Boswil” in Switzerland together with their sister team, Katia and Marielle Labèque, a world-class piano duo from France.
