Stefan VLADAR 스테판 블라다

Born in Vienna, Stefan Vladar is one of Austria’s most remarkable musical personalities. He performs regularly as a conductor and a pianist in music centres in Europe, America and Asia. In the season 2015/16, the Vienna Concert House is celebrating his 50th birthday with a series of 13 concerts in which he will show his artistic scope - also as an accompanist and as a chamber musician.

 

Stefan Vladar was appointed Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Vienna Chamber Orchestra in 2008. In this season Stefan Vladar will also conduct the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, the Portland Symphony Orchestra, the Bankok Symphony Orchestra, the Cairo Symphony Orchestra and the Tschaikowsky Symphony Orchestra Moscow. As a pianist he will perform e.g. with the Radio Symphony Orchestra Prague and the Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz and play solo recitals in Vienna, Zagreb, Munich and Budapest amongst others.

 

In autumn 2015 the Austrian Label CAPRICCIO is starting a close partnership with Stefan Vladar and will first release a CD with piano solo compositions by Maurice Ravel. In 2016 a 4CD-Box with the complete recording of Beethoven´s solo concertos - 5 piano concertos, triple concerto, violin concerto, 2 violin romances – will follow, Stefan Vladar performing as a pianist and conducting his Vienna Chamber Orchestra. In addition, a recording of Schubert’s three major song cycles is being prepared with Bo Skovhus.

 

Stefan Vladar was a student of Hans Petermandl at the University of Music and Performing Arts. In 1985 he won the 1st prize of the prestigious International Beethoven Piano Competition in Vienna. Since then, he has been performing under the baton of conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Christoph von Dohnanyi, Vladimir Fedosejev, Christopher Hogwood, Louis Langrée, Sir Neville Marriner, Sir Yehudi Menuhin, Seiji Ozawa, Sir Simon Rattle and Christian Thielemann in appearances with numerous orchestras such as Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Bayerische Staatsorchester, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, NHK Symphony Orchestra Tokio, Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the Tonhalle-Orchestra Zurich.

 

As a conductor he has worked with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Camerata Salzburg, Residence Orchestra Den Haag, Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, Tschaikowsky Symphony Orchestra Moscow, Stuttgart Philharmonic, RSO Budapest, Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra as well as the chamber orchestras of Basel, Cologne, Prague and Zurich among others. He has performed together with soloists such as Tzimon Barto, Janine Jansen, Isabelle van Keulen, Viktoria Mullova, Julian Rachlin, Heinrich Schiff and with singers such as Ian Bostridge, Johan Botha, Jonas Kaufmann, Angelika Kirchschlager, Thomas Quasthoff, Ramon Vargas and Pretty Yende. Stefan has a close long term musical cooperation with the baritone Bo Skovhus.

Stefan Vladar has been guest artist of the Salzburg Festival, Schubertiade Schwarzenberg, Musikfest Bremen, Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Ludwigsburg Schlossfestspiele, Rheingau Music Festival, Piano Festival Ruhr, Schwetzing SWR Festival and the festivals of Aix-en-Provence, Bergen, Bogotá, Edinburgh, Gstaad, Hongkong, Osaka as well as the Opéra Bastille Paris and the Musikverein Vienna. He was "Artist in residence" of the Bodenseefestival and the Duisburg Philharmonic. Since almost 20 years he has been Artistic Director of the „Neuberger Kulturtage“.

 

Vladar’s discography includes more than 30 releases for labels such as harmonia mundi and Sony Classical documenting his work as a pianist and as a conductor with music amongst others by Haydn, Schubert, Schumann, Chopin, Prokofiev and Scriabin.
